A mentorship and community space for people ready to drop the “shoulds,” reconnect with themselves, and live from truth, not obligation.
Hi, I’m Jamie.
I’m a professor of Sociology and Equity Studies who has spent decades exploring how our lives are shaped by culture, systems, and unspoken expectations. Along the way, I earned a BA in Sociology, an MA in Teaching, and a graduate certificate in Mental Health and Addictions.
But beyond the credentials and classrooms, my real work (and my real learning) has been about peeling back the “shoulds” that kept me striving, proving, and performing.
For years, I lived in my head, checking all the boxes, doing all the “right” things, and losing pieces of myself along the way. It wasn’t until I rediscovered 15 old journals that I finally saw who I really was beneath all of the roles and expectations.
permission to just be was born from that realization and it’s now a space where I guide others to uncover the parts of themselves they’ve silenced, hidden, or forgotten and reconnect with who they already are. You don’t need to prove yourself. You don’t need to do more. You just need to grant yourself permission to just be.
